I am often loosing files - entire directories of files.

One thing I have done with the Screenplay is that the partition has been resized, also a firmware upgrade.

1) Any clues why this happen?

2) How, do I restore the files as good as possible (even if partly corrupt)

This has happened to me a few times before I updated to firmware R1.8 Are you using that version? Try running chkdisk /x f: (or whatever drive letter it is when hooked up to your computer) to do any repairs. Sometimes it will recover them, usually not. If it doesn't restore the directory, it may end up giving the filenames like 'file0001' or something like that for each one that it recovered but didn't know the name of. Not sure what else you can do. --JCoug 02:19, December 16, 2009 (UTC)

Here is my prob with this, I lose the file not the directory. The probem is this, I use a program to sync both of my SPP's and when the file is missing it chokes. If I reboot the SPP's the file comes back, I am not sure why this happens but if you can help please do. I would like to be able to sync these at night and am tired of adding the movies to both as the network speed (if you can call it that) is real bad.

Ps. I called support on this and they tried to tell me that it was the SPP and I said to that, ok I would agree if it was only one but I have 2 doing the same thing.

you got that firmware installed? -- gusrotrek

What firmware? I have the one that came on the SPP when I bought it, I think it is R1.8. Does the new firmware address these issues?

I has the same problem, install version to him 1.98 and as of that moment I see the new archives and I connect if it by usb I see the old archives.

I had this problem with the newer firmware and the previous version to 1.8. I noticed that if I played a video and then stopped the video, and press "stop" to go backwards out of the directory and then forward into another directory, files wouldn't be there, just like an empty directory. If I turned off the player and restarted the player, the files would be restored. It's a glitch and it hasn't happened since I restored 1.8
